HEY, I'M JULIAN

YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD DESIGNER

After graduating from New York City College of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Communication Design, I couldn't help but reflect on my journey and all the skills I acquired along the way. As a kid, I liked creating concepts and enjoyed sketching anime characters and dragons, wood shop, and coloring/drawing on my sneakers. All of these things led to me wanting to become a graphic designer. However, at the time, I had no true direction of what kind of designer I wanted to become. At the beginning of my college years, I felt like a lone wolf because it seemed as if everyone else was either more knowledgeable about design or understood the direction they wanted to go. Nonetheless, I appreciated the feeling of finding my way through the ups and downs of this path because it allowed me to advance my skills in various Adobe programs (such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and After Effects) in order to create logos, posters, layouts, graphics and other compositions. I even developed photography skills, leading me to understand the importance of highlights, shadows and positioning. In addition, I learned essential design strategies, storytelling skills, and marketing strategies to help improve and build or expand on a brand in order to find ways to connect the designs with the respective audience effectively. My journey made me fall in love with design and even connected me with a professor who helped me realize that I can combine design with my passion for basketball/sports (Hello, passionate Knicks fan here!). Even though this journey showed me sports design is my direction and passion, I want to begin my career in design to learn more about various things, continually growing as a designer, and establish a name for myself through my work.
